Family Stories

The West Liberty Heritage Foundation is beginning a collection of Family Stories. Perhaps your family has lived here for several generations, but even if you are the first generation, we’d like to have your story.
Here are some suggestions of what you might include:
- Begin with the first generation of your family that came to the West Liberty Area School District and follow the family’s direct line to you or your children. Where did they come from (county, state, or country)? When did they come? What attracted them to this area? Were other relatives in the area? No need to include birth and death dates unless you wish to do so.
- Where did your ancestors live in this area and where have their descendants lived (include yourself)? Be precise if you can. What occupation did each generation follow (include yourself)?
- What family members attended school here? Include country schools if that applies.
- List involvement in community, church, civic organizations, sports, and any stories you wish to include about living here or about a noted relative. (for each generation if you wish).
- Are there other relatives with a different last name who live here or have lived here in the past (aunts, uncles, cousins)? Do your children or grandchildren live in this school district or elsewhere?
- Anything else you would like to add? Photographs are welcome.
